The Star Casino

Indoor zen garden, Custom design, Sculpted rock feature

Easygreen delivered bespoke biophilic terrarium installations for The Star Casino in Sydney, part of The Star Entertainment Group — one of Australia’s leading hospitality and entertainment operators. The project introduced immersive miniature landscapes within the venue, combining preserved plants, moss, and lightweight design solutions to create unique visual features within the tea bar .

Scope of work

We designed and fabricated four custom terrariums, each approximately 100 cm in diameter, incorporating preserved plants and moss to create detailed biophilic compositions.

A key challenge of the project was the maximum load capacity of the acrylic structures, which was limited to 5 kg per unit. To meet this requirement, our team developed lightweight custom solutions, including specially fabricated artificial rocks and the careful selection of materials to maintain structural integrity without compromising the final visual result.

In addition to the smaller terrariums, Easygreen designed and installed a larger feature piece measuring approximately 1 metre wide by 2 metres high. This statement installation incorporated a preserved tree and a tropical garden composition with orchids, positioned behind the bar to create a striking focal point within the space.

The completed installations combined creativity, technical problem-solving, and lightweight engineering to deliver visually impactful greenery features tailored to the venue.

The Project

For the Star Casino in Sydney, Easygreen was tasked with designing a series of large-scale, visually striking terrariums — while overcoming significant structural constraints.

The client requested 1-metre-wide terrarium spheres, but with a strict maximum weight limit of just 10 kg per unit. To meet this challenge, our team developed a custom solution: we used lightweight substrate, hand-crafted a realistic faux rock base, and filled the spheres with preserved greenery, which is completely maintenance-free yet lifelike in appearance.

On the opposite side of the café, we created a small, sculptural tree for the largest terrarium, complemented with artificial orchids to add elegance and colour.

These installations are not only visually impressive but also timeless, low-maintenance centrepieces, blending nature-inspired design with smart engineering to meet both aesthetic and practical requirements.
